Jerry Robinson

Best known for being the lead inker on Batman comics in the 1940s, Robinson has led a long and industrious career in comic books. He was the creator of Batman's sidekick, Robin, as well as their arch-nemisis, The Joker.

Robinson's career after leaving DC comics has been filled with numerous freelance comic and illustration work. He was the president of the National Cartoonists Society from 1967 to 1969 and president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists in 1979. Most recently, Robinson curated the Superheros: Good and Evil in American Comics exhibition for the Jewish Museum. He was also a consultant for the recent Batman film, The Dark Knight.
